RPL Vacancy: Senior Engineer

We are looking for a highly motivated civil engineer to join our team to support our Asset Manager in undertaking inspections, designing and managing maintenance works for our combined portfolio of over 1,200 former railway viaducts, tunnels, bridges and other structures.

Railway Paths Limited is a specialist organisation which owns and manages a portfolio of former railway land to provide routes, roads and paths suitable for cycling, walking, horseriding and wheel-chair use. We also manage the properties held by our sister charity Sustrans, and welcome enquiries to sell, lease or develop surplus land owned by either organisation.


Senior Engineer (RPL028)
£31,058 per annum
(dependent on relevant skills and experience)

Up to 37.5 hours per week
(flexible working arrangements including part-time hours and/or a job share will be considered)
Based in Manchester
(other locations will be considered to suit the successful candidate)

This role will support the Asset Manager in undertaking principal inspections, identifying and prioritising maintenance works, designing schemes, obtaining necessary consents and agreements and preparing and administering contracts for these works.

You will have significant practical experience of bridge and structures asset management, bridge inspection and contract preparation and management. The varied nature of our portfolio requires an imaginative problem solving approach to challenges and a keen eye for detail. You will be able to work flexibly and independently and enjoy regular travel around the UK.
